CLASS OF 1996. Remember the caterpillar at duzine? Remember Frost Valley? Remember co-recs? Remember snow days? (miss those?) Remember that quote in the high school cafeteria–something about enthusiasm? Remember when you said goodbye to all of that and promised to keep in touch and then sort-of didn’t because life got a little busy? Wonder what happened to the people that you shared your formative years with? (even just a little bit curious?)

July 8 & 9th was the event that surpassed all of our expectations.

Nine months ago a few classmates assembled to organize what Ann Minadao-Hiltner visioned as the Reunion that spanned a decade of classes… It started Friday night where each group of classes were assigned a different establishment in downtown New Paltz. We roamed from one bar to another visiting friends and relatives from different years, and sadly, none of us were proofed. The evening ended at Joe’s where a buffet was provided for all the celebrants from 11:00 until closing.

The following day there were organized events for attendees that included a spirited tour of the newly (by our standards) expanded New Paltz High School. At 4:30, the main event started. Food, DJ,and a great band kept the energy level high. All were so excited to see friends they have lost touch with over the many years. Conversations went on until the wee hours of the morning. and through the evening you kept hearing people say ‘really, I haven’t seen them yet. Where are they?’ We all left wanting more with the realization that we did not get to spend as much time as we would have liked to in the short 10 hours of the party.

This was a party that will be talked about for many years. It is destined to become a legend that will hopefully be duplicated.

You can also check out some of those that were responsible for making this happen, and a lot of credit goes to Ann for her determination that this would be the event she envisioned, Leslie Yeaple’s strength and leadership, Carol Johnson’s research ability and the input and efforts of all the other members.
