There is nothing that can compare with live music performed by a fantastic band to ensure a superb night out. After all after a couple of drinks everybody loves to get on the dance floor to show off their moves and having a live band perform at your function is guaranteed to make it go with a bang. So whatever type of special event you are organizing, whether it’s a birthday celebration, wedding, anniversary or just an excuse to get together with friends a live band can make all the difference.
There’s a whole variety of groups which will make for a fantastic night but to give your guests something a little different why don’t you choose a Ceili band? Ceilidh bands perform traditional country music for people to get up and dance to along with some songs, jokes and storytelling included for good measure. The songs performed by Ceili bands can vary according to where you live so Irish Ceili bands will have a different style from Scottish Ceilidh bands but the result will be the same-a remarkable time for all.
A Ceili band will come complete together with a caller to teach the dancers in the steps which they need to carry out to every song. He will start off by giving a brief introduction for the up coming song and talk about the steps that go with it and call out instructions when the music is being performed. At the start of the evening the steps will be pretty simple but harder and elaborate steps will be introduced as people become more comfortable with the dances.
Ceili bands perform music in the traditional Celtic style while barn dance bands and Hoedown bands have their origins in a different tradition completely. Even so there are lots of similarities between the two with both of them based on mostly traditional music with a caller calling the steps.
You can have a Ceili or barn dance at any place where there’s enough space for folks to dance and for the band to set up their instruments. Callers bands and wedding ceilidh bands will provide their PA system and caller all you have to do is look for a suitable location and fill it with your relatives and buddies and have a wonderful day.
