How to Save on Your Wedding FlowersWedding Comments Off

These days, weddings are getting more and more expensive. If you’re worried about being able to have a beautiful wedding and reception without breaking the bank, one great place to save money is on your flowers. They are, after all, usually one of the largest expenses of a wedding, but you can really cut back on your flower budget with a few neat tricks.
First off, figure out exactly what you want your wedding flowers to look like, and then simplify that idea. Your flowers will be much more affordable if you stick to just two or three different varieties, but you would be surprised at what you can do with just a few types of flowers. To really pull this off well, consider using striking combinations, such as roses and daises or lilies.
Secondly, try to offset very expensive flowers with very inexpensive ones. This is quite easily done, as long as you know which flowers will be the most expensive. If, for instance, you want to use orchids, which look stunning without much help, consider using an inexpensive filler of simple greenery. The same thing goes for roses, calla lilies, and stargazer lilies, which come at a high cost but which can be offset by less expensive additions.
Thirdly, figure out how you can reuse your flowers. Rather than having a ton of flowers to festoon the altar and aisle at your ceremony and a ton more on the tables at your reception, try to find versatile arrangements that can move from one place to the other easily. The little bouquets that are often tied on the inside of the aisle, for instance, can easily be moved into centerpiece vases, and the larger altar decorations can have a place by the cake table at the reception.
There are plenty of ways to save on your wedding flowers, as long as you are creative with them.
